The Town of Turbeville has been named a Tree City USA Community for the 8th year. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.

Clarendon Adult Education will offer classes at East Clarendon Middle School on WorkKeys Preparation, WorkKeys Online Testing, GED Preparation, Literacy and Basic Computer. To improve skills for personal satisfaction or to increase chances of finding a new job, call Clarendon County Adult Education at 803-473-2531 for additional information and/ or to register for classes.
Calendars remembering Clarendon County’s Fallen Officers are for sale at Town Hall for $10.00 each. Funds raised from this project go towards helping the families of fallen officers. Each officer that has fallen in the line of duty is honored on the month/date of their End of Tour of duty.
The next meeting of Town Council will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Town Hall. The public is encouraged to attend.
Anyone that receives water from the Town of Turbeville can also sign up for trash collection. If you are interested in this service come by Town Hall and sign up. You do not have to live in the Town of Turbeville to receive this service.
Screen on the Green movie for July 14, 2012 is Zookeeper. All movies begin at sunset and if there is a rainout the movie will be shown on Sunday evening.
ORDINANCE: Final reading of Ordinance 2012-02: 2012-13 Budget was passed at the regular meeting of Town Council on June 12, 2012. Additional information may be obtained at Town Hall.
ORDINANCE: Final reading of Ordinance 2012-03 Business License Classification Rate Schedule was passed at the regular meeting of Town Council on June 12, 2012. Additional information may be obtained at Town Hall.
Town Council approved the purchase of a new Police vehicle at the regular meeting of Town Council on June 12, 2012. The old Crown Victoria that was seen parked on the street in various locations has been sold to The Town of Summerton.
FEDS FEED FAMILIES!! The Manning USDA Service Center is accepting food donations June 1, 2012 to August 31, 2012 to meet its goal of collecting 500,000 pounds of food. All donations will be delivered to the United Ministries in Manning which serves all of Clarendon County and benefits people in our area. Suggested items such as canned goods, grains, soups, napkins, paper towels, etc may be left at Town Hall. A brochure may be obtained at Town Hall.
A SECOND CHANCE ANIMAL SHELTER, LOCATED AT 5079 Alex Harvin Hwy between Manning and Summterton, is now holding its annual membership drive. The cost of a yearly membership is $25.00 for an individual or a family. Membership applications are available at Town Hall. The shelter collects ink/toner cartridges and cell phones for its recycling program. These items may be left at Town Hall to be taken to the shelter.
THE STREET BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT Phase #7: Installation of the mast arms will be completed by the end of June.
UPDATE ON WATER SYSTEM EXPANSION: The installation of the water pipe is moving to Puddin Swamp/Seloc Rd this week. Approximately 65% of the laying of the water line has been completed.
Town Hall will closed Wednesday, July 4, 2012 , in observance of INDEPENDENCE DAY.
The NEW ZION 4TH OF JULY PARADE will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, July 4th, 2012. Come and enjoy a celebration of our freedom/ A fireworks display will begin at dusk.
STATE TOURNAMENTS FOR DIXIE PONY TAILS & DIXIE DEBS will be held at Smith Field with Opening Ceremony on July 13, 2012. The tournament will begin July 14th and run through July 19th 2012. Volunteers are needed to help with various jobs during the tournaments. If you are willing to help, please call Ike Ard at 843-373-7050.
